Step out of the campsite and into the forest; it’s truly on our doorstep and has so much to offer. A mixture of pines, heathland and broad leaf managed by the Forestry Commission, and there for you to enjoy. Take a relaxing walk, it’s so peaceful and the nature is good for the soul. Or in contrast explore with the children, it’s an adventure playground for them. A picnic will make it even more memorable. From the trees to fungi and wild flowers or the deer to squirrels, rabbits, there are an abundance of things to discover.

(5 miles) Owned by Suffolk Wildlife Trust, this is a gem of a place. Set off on marked trails or just wander by the river, across the beautiful heathland and through the woods – Both dogs and children will love it as well, especially with a chance for the children to paddle and the dogs to swim. St Georges distillery
(4 ½ miles) St Georges is the only whiskey distillery in England and it’s on our doorstep. They have a distillery tour that takes 1 hour or another that includes tasting that takes 2 hours. Sounds like an interesting tasting. http://www.englishwhisky.co.uk/
Middle Harling Riding School

Hall Farm Horse Sanctuary
(7 miles) World Horse Welfare is a leading international horse charity dedicated to the caring of horses. Hall Farm is the largest of the charity’s four Centres and can house up to 120 horses. There is lots to see and do plus a café to recharge in. The gift shop offers a chance to solve those present problems. I’m sure Gran would love a rubber with the picture of a horse on it. So even if you’re not looking bits and pieces for your pond, it’s a free aquarium that can be enjoyed by all the family. Thetford Golf Club
(9 miles) Founded in 1912, Thetford Golf Club is set in the Forest amongst the pine, oak and birch trees. There is an abundance of scented gorse, broom, heather and wildlife that greets those who venture too far from the fairways! With its spectacular tree lined fairways this superb free draining course is reputed to be one of the finest and most challenging courses in East Anglia.
